Just to be clear, these are not fossils. They are Neolithic artifacts found in the Algerian desert of north Africa. It made the most sense to place them here considering this is our first venture into anthropology (just due to how old they are!) Speaking of which, these arrow heads are roughly dated back to 3000-5000 bc. These are new items for us to carry but when we saw them, we just had to get them. While we geek out hard on fossils, anthropology is equally as fascinating to us. While fossils tell the story of earth's ancient past, artifacts give us an insight into how we, as humans, came to be where we are today. The Neolithic period is the final deviation of the stone age, which preceded the copper and bronze ages. This period is known for the development of farming becoming widespread and the domestication of farm animals. Because of these technological advancements, it was finally possible for many human cultures to move from a hunter-gatherer lifestyle to one of agriculture and settlement. While the arrowhead was an implementation of the hunter gatherer lifestyle, the skill which was used to create these speaks to a culture that had excess time to finetune their craft. In that sense, these arrowheads are an example of that development and speaking to the growing skill of the hunters of the time. Truly they are a fascinating addition to any collection and are rich in the history of human beings.
