The Lion's Paw Shell (Nodipecten nodosus) is a species of large, colorful scallop in the family Pectinidae. It is known for its robust, fan-shaped shell, which features prominent ridges and nodules, resembling the paw of a lion. The shell's coloration varies widely, ranging from deep reds and oranges to purples and browns, often with contrasting stripes or spots. This species is found in the warm waters of the Western Atlantic, including the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. Lion's Paw Scallops inhabit sandy or rocky seabeds, typically at depths ranging from shallow coastal areas to several hundred feet. They are filter feeders, consuming plankton and other small particles from the water.
All sea life specimens vary slightly in size and shape. You will receive a high quality specimen of the selected item but not the exact one pictured.
