The exact origins of Cherry Quartz are unclear, but it is believed to have been first produced in China in the early 2000s. To create this stunning stone, natural quartz is crushed and mixed with cinnabar, then heated at a high temperature to fuse the materials together. This process results in the pinkish-red color and translucency that define Cherry Quartz. The addition of cinnabar is also thought to lend the stone unique metaphysical properties.
