We’re very use to seeing the run of the mill bumble and honey bees that you could be forgiven for assuming bees only came in yellow and black. In reality, bees come in all sorts of colors. But there’s something about the bright cerulean fuzz that really sets this little buddy apart. The blue carpenter bee (Xylocopa Caerulea) is found throughout Southeast Asia, India, and Southern China, and they’re known for being large and heavy bees that live solitary lives, and are generally non-aggressive. It's really something to see and is a stand out in any collection.
For over 75 years, Riker display mount boxes have served the academic and professional science industry. A clear glass window in the cover provides an easy view of the specimen within. The polyester batting included in each unit helps cushion the stored specimen while a patented pin locking system keeps the box closed and secure. Named after Dr. Albert Joyce Riker, a truly brilliant mind and titan of the science world, this would become his most famous contribution to the scientific community. His most significant contributions were in forestry, and in the later years of his career, in helping to organize international quarantines to restrict the spread of plant diseases. Just goes to show that no one can predict what they will be remembered for.
